JT Poston’s PGA Tour Caddie’s Sarcastic Interaction With Fan Going Viral

Aaron Flener will be J. T. Poston’s caddie as of 2023. Flener started playing golf at TK High School in Kentucky at Kenny Perry’s invitation, and he hasn’t left the course since. The professional caddy started playing collegiate golf after high school and had some success there between 2001 and 2004.

But it was in the cart, not on the course, that he found his passion for golf after graduating. Flener seems to be happy with the choice, but he has never explained why he chose it.

Although the precise date of the couple’s relationship is unknown, it was probably in the early months of May 2018 when the golfer was awarded a PGA Tour card.

Crowd control is one of a PGA Tour caddie’s most significant duties. Although all caddies take their responsibility to ask boisterous supporters to be quiet quite seriously, JT Poston’s caddie could be the most considerate of them.

On the most difficult of the three courses, the PGA West Stadium Course, Poston managed to shoot a 5-under 67. During the round, Flener made a very caustic comment to a fan.

Poston had a 5-under 67 on Thursday, but he found the bunker on the par-4 18th, his last hole of the day at the Pete Dye Stadium Course at PGA West.

Cameras turned to Poston waving in the bunker as he prepared for his second shot, but a nearby supporter was on the phone. That’s when Flener ended it as quickly and politely as possible.

Just as Poston was about to make his 144-yard approach, a call came through from a bystander.

Flener jumped in an offered: “Sir can you hang up the phone please, we’re playing golf over here.”

The fan would feel far more humiliated by Flener’s condescending and snarky approach than if he had just instructed him to “shut the hell up.”

Reminding a fan that millions of dollars are at stake in a golf tournament is a gradual burn that goes far deeper than telling them to quiet up.
